Healthcare Workforce Solutions

Building and maintaining a workforce is an issue faced by all healthcare organizations. But it’s a particularly difficult challenge for health centers and clinics serving rural and urban underserved patients. They often find doors closed when they try to recruit and retain medical, dental and behavioral health professionals.

That’s where I come in. I’m Judd A. Mellinger-Blouch and as you can tell by my photo I’ve been around awhile.

During my nearly 40 years in healthcare, my greatest joy has been opening those doors, connecting people, and helping to improve access to healthcare. Let’s discuss how I can help your organization open doors and find solutions to your healthcare workforce needs.

Solutions Start with a Simple Conversation

Let’s Talk

I have a few questions for you, and you probably have a few for me. I’d love to hear about your challenges…and your successes. We can start with a 15-minute conversation followed by an email with some ideas. Easy.

Situation Analysis (Not Paralysis)

Fifteen minutes will go quickly. The next step is a situation analysis and report. I can visit your facility or conduct a series of virtual interviews. Each case is unique. Time spent on this is completely negotiable.

A Plan So Logical It Just May Work

Once we have agreed on the situation analysis – and your top priorities – we can work together to develop a plan. Nothing crazy, nothing wildly expensive. Just logical, measurable, timely next steps.

Execution of the Solution

Maybe you’ll need my help putting the plan into action and maybe you won’t. But regardless, I won’t abandon you. My success relies on your success. I’ll stay in touch, answer your questions, and maybe even bake you some “thank you” scones.

JAMB Sessions

Presentations to Educate, and Maybe Entertain

I call them JAMB sessions. Catchy, right? They can be in person or virtual, 30 minutes or 3 hours, informational or inspirational or both. Check out the course descriptions when they’re ready. Hey, I just started doing this on my own. Perfection and amazement take time!

What’s Your Employer Brand Worth? (hint…it’s a lot)

If a healthcare organization is thinking about their brand (and many don’t) it’s usually focused on how patients and insurance companies view them. But your employer brand will determine who wants to work for you and how long they’ll stay. That’s a huge value!

Your Story Is Your Power

Your life is full of stories. Your personal story. The stories of the people around you. And the story of your Community Health Center. Those stories, those narratives, connect us all in ways that are both logical and mysterious. If you’re looking to connect with candidates, employees, and, well… any other human beings, you need to tell your story.

Changing the Script on Rural Recruitment and Retention

Healthcare organizations serving rural and underserved populations often have an inferiority complex when it comes to recruiting and retaining all levels of employees, particularly clinicians. It is those organizations, however, that build a highly positive employer brand, apply creative and strategic thinking, and use all resources at their disposal who successfully face these challenges.

Passionate Partner

As the CMO of a large organization, I was fortunate to enjoy a decade-long partnership with Judd in recruiting bilingual clinicians interested in providing care to disenfranchised communities – no easy task! However, working with Judd was always a pleasure as his enthusiasm and passion were contagious and highly effective in identifying excellent candidates who ultimately joined our organization and embraced our mission. As such Judd was the first person I called whne I began to consider a major career decision. What can we expect when we contract with JAMB Opening Doors?

I’m committed to increasing access to healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved areas. So you can expect me to work very hard, provide you with creative solutions, and stay by your side until the job is done.

Our organization is unique. How can you possibly help us?

I’m really honest with my clients. So let’s start by admitting that your organization has some unique aspects, but you also have a lot in common. Human beings behave in certain ways regardless of the organization. Let’s talk. Maybe you are truly unqiue. I’ve been wrong before!

Why do you have an affinity for organizations serving rural and underserved patients?

For as long as I’ve been in healthcare, it always felt like something was missing. In 2014 I found out what it was. There are whole groups of our fellow human beings who are not getting adequate care. That bothers the hell out of me. I want to do something about it.

How much do your services cost?

It varies depending on the amount of customization required. I try to be reasonable and affordable. Let’s discuss your budget and your needs. There’s no charge for that!

Do you work with other organizations?

Yes. Some of my services are delivered through 3RNET (National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network) and PACHC (Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers). It’s great to tap into these organizations’ knowledge and services when I’m helping you.

Are the results of your work measurable and tangible?

Yes! One of the first discussions we will have will focus on the results you’re looking for. It’s vital that we set goals that are measurable.

Do you have a personal stake in your work?

Yes. I feel strongly that primary medical, dental and behavioral healthcare should be available to everyone. But I also want to see folks finding meaningful work in healthcare, particularly people from underserved areas finding a career and a future through working in healthcare.
